Resistance to the Heeding II

Coming to the surface
Crawling under my skin
Penetrating the barriers of my mind
Must resist the heeding
Irrationality
Emotions rather not revisit
These hauntings
Only deny their existence
Clouting judgment
Distractions and temptations
Must resist the heeding
Sufficiently content and challenged
With other less fanciful more valid occupations
Sticking to my foolproof plan
Not to happenstance
Yes, I must resist the heeding
Goosebumps, fade away
Heart flutterings, go away
Wonderments of implausible possibilities
Replace them with the brutal truth
Create sweet memories
Rather than conjure painful memories
Summon memories of independence and strength
Rather than those of helplessness, desperation
Stimulate intellectually
Rather than emotionally
Yes, I am mastering the art
Of resisting the heeding
Of intellectualizing
Separating fact from fiction
And I write it all away
Channel these whimsical frenzies
Into the rationalities of my life
Diffuse the resistance
And set a float my positive nature, full potentiality
Lanterns floating peacefully in the night
Glowing vibrantly under stunning cherry blossom trees
Down a calm stream
Let the heedings ignite motivations
Rather than langour
Squander my illusive expectations
Go beyond the easy stream
To free flowing rivers of rage and stillness
Overcome the vulnerabilities
Recognize and seize resistance
These heedings only yearnings
Of something much grander, greater
More tangible than my selfish misery or blindness
A powerful force that makes a difference
In everyday human life
These heedings only guiding lights
Of uncharted places of exploration and discovery
Blossoming springs of renew
Reaching into the depths of my expanding soul
To genuinely inspire, ablaze
Enough to make me move
Enough to find me in the night
To prevent sinking in the mud or unknown waters

"Freedom is man's capacity to take a hand in his own development. It is our capacity to mold ourselves."
--Rollo May

"...the individual is defined only by his relationship to the world and to other individuals; he exists only by transcending himself, and his freedom can be achieved only through the freedom of others. He justifies his existence by a movement which, like freedom, springs from his heart but which leads outside of himself."
-- Simone de Beauvoir, 1948, The Ethics Of Ambiguity, p. 156

"To love means to open ourselves to the negative as well as the positive - to grief, sorrow, and disappointment as well as to joy, fulfillment, and an intensity of consciousness we did not know was possible before." --Rollo May
